The Jewish Federation and Community Campus agency leadership has been actively monitoring the ongoing developments regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) in conjunction with local and state public health officials, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
Because of the continuously evolving nature of this situation and out of an abundance of caution, the Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio (HMMSA) is joining other San Antonio area places of public gathering and temporarily suspending its visitors’ hours for the next few weeks to prevent exposure to visitors and staff. The current plan is to reopen Wednesday, July 1st, 2020. However, please note, that when we reopen and return to our “normal” schedule, we expect that our in-person Holocaust survivors’ stories will be unavailable for a number of weeks beyond this date. When we reopen to the public we will also be operating at a reduced occupancy and will be implementing new temporary safety guidelines in addition to increasing our cleaning efforts in the museum.
The Museum is open Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Sunday, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. There is no admission fee, but a donation of $1 per student and $3 per adult is recommended. Holiday hours may apply.
The Holocaust Memorial Museum is free and open to the public. Walk-in visitors may enjoy a self-guided tour of our four exhibit areas, while trained docents lead scheduled tours for groups of 20 or more.
