The Holocaust Memorial Museum can accommodate up to 200 students at one time. To schedule a tour, please complete our Tour Request Form at least two weeks prior to your desired tour date for groups of 50 or less and at least one month prior for tours of 51-200. For tours in April and May please book at least two months in advance. Tour requests are reviewed in the order in which they are received. High request volume may result in a delay in confirmation. Tours are available during Museum hours, and by special appointment Sundays and evenings. Should you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify the Museum directly at 210.302.6807.
Tours last approximately 2-3 hours depending on group size. Upon arrival, the group leader must check in at the lobby desk with an accurate number of participants. A docent or member of the Museum will greet and assist your group. We ask that tours to not arrive prior to 9am when the Museum opens. Groups are provided with a guided tour of the main exhibit led by a trained docent and a Holocaust Survivor or speaker can be provided based on availability. Groups larger than 50 will participate in a group activity or film. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the time of your tour.
An outdoor area can be requested for groups of 50 or fewer students to eat packed lunches, no food delivery by non-Kosher restaurants is allowed at our campus. This area must be reserved at least 2 months in advance and is not always available for tours. This space can be requested in the “Additional Comments or Questions” section of the tour request form. Once availability is confirmed, we will make every effort to provide an alternate indoor space in cases of inclement weather however, we cannot guarantee that an indoor space will be available. Groups with reservations that include a space for lunches are encouraged to have their own backup location plans for inclement weather in case we are not able to locate an interior space for your group. The museum does not have a secure area for the storage of student lunches. If your group will be having lunch in our picnic area, you are encouraged to leave the lunches on the bus.
Due to the graphic nature of the content depicted in the Museum, tour requests will be accepted for grades 6 and up. For 5th grade groups, special consideration will be taken to ensure the students are prepared for the subject matter and visual depiction of the Holocaust. Exceptions will not be made for 4th grade or below.
For all groups 5th grade and under, the Museum offers a variety of other age appropriate educational resources. To combat reduced or eliminated funding for buses for field trips, the San Antonio Holocaust Memorial Museum is pleased to offer a $100-per-bus transportation subsidy to visiting school groups on a first come first served basis. If you would like to request a subsidy for your school group, simply indicate your interest on the tour schedule form, and fax or email us a copy of your bus invoice to the Museum after your visit.
There is no admission fee, but donations are always welcome.
